Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday planted a sapling here in the memory of singing legend Lata Mangeshkar.
He also made an announcement that a music academy and a museum showcasing all songs sung by her will be set up in her birthplace Indore.
Mangeshkar (92) died at a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday after multiple-organ failure.
Her homeland, Indore, will have a statue of the nightingale. In addition, artists would be awarded a state award named after her, on the occasion of her birth anniversary.
Chouhan mentioned she was not just only an inspiration for the music world but she also epitomised patriotism. “…the entire nation and even massive politicians took inspiration from her.”
