Covid-19, the dreaded virus which is proving to be enemy No of the entire mankind since last 2 years is rearing it’s ugly head once again with renewed ferocity. Gujarat has recorded 948 cases, the highest in last six months as on 5 P.M. on Sunday the 26-12-2021
People had started taking a sigh of relief when after the deadly second wave of Covid receded after taking thousands of lives and an unprecedented scene of panic as administration failed completely in managing the crisis. And then suddenly, the new variant of various, named omicron, believed to be more infectious than earlier versions emerged.
With new 177 cases on Sunday, it was second consecutive day that the new cases crossed 175 mark. Out of new 177 cases 52 were from Ahmedabad, 24 from Rajkot, 20 from Surat and15 from Vadodara. However, there was no new case of omicron infection reported. Out of total 49 cases, 36 are active cases were 13 have recovered. Interestingly, out of 49 cases of Omicron, alleligible-40- people had their both doses of vaccine. All the cases were asymptomatic or with very mild symptoms.
Official figures point out that so far 818298 people have been infected by Covid-19 in Gujarat with 10113 people losing their lives to it. Vaccination drive also is in full swing in the state with 41031 people vaccinated in last 24 hours bringing the tally to 8.81 crores. In Ahmedabad, the Covid infected cases so far are 235410 and 3413 people died of Covid in Ahmedabad.
