Supplementary exams’ results were released recently. Final verdict shows that 75% of Class 10 students who took the Gujarat Secondary Higher Secondary Education Board’s supplementary exams have flunked. The exam which was held between July 18 and 22, had a passing rate of about 24.72% .
The purpose of supplementary exams is to give a second chance to those students who have failed in one or two subjects in the final board exams. Results reveal that a total of 1,58,686 students had enrolled for the exam, out of which only 1,40,509 students actually took the exam.
1.4 Lakh students failed these exams, only 34,738 passed and they will be now promoted to class 11 for their studies. Girls have outshone boys. Statistics showed that 91,238 boys had registered for the exam, out of which 84,556 had given the exam. Out of these 84,556 , only 20,053 or 23.72 succeeded to clear the examination. In girls,. 67,4489 had registered for the examination, and 55,953 had appeared for the exams, out of which 14,685 or 26.25 girls passed. A total of 189 students with disabilities, who get to pass the exams by scoring 20%, cleared the exams.
