The Gujarat Government accepted that as many as 56 persons from Ahmedabad, 15 people from Vadodara have been caught under the charge of selling Remdesivir injections illegally. While 54 cases have also been filed in court and 17 cases are yet pending for the same charge.
The government replied to the question raised by a Congress MLA in a written manner.
Fake Remdesivir injections sales busted in Gujarat, especially during the first wave of Covid where many thugs, manufacturers were alleged and some were also arrested for selling the Remdesivir injections in Black.
The pandemic proved to be an opportunity for thugs who found different ways of cheating people who were already struggling for basic healthcare amenities like beds and oxygen.
Unfortunately, the ruckus continued even during the second wave of Covid and many more have been accused of the same charge and arrested.
In one such inter-state black-marketing racket, Sudeep Mukherjee of Rajnagar in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh was caught in July 2021 who set up a fake drug manufacturing company and sold fake drugs to treat Covid-19 patients in various states of the country.

Since the two-day Monsoon session has begun on September 27, the opposition was seen all set with their agenda to question the government in the House on day one. In the first session, the government received a raucous response to continuing price hikes and hurricanes by the opposition leaders while the matter of black-marketing of Remdesivir was brought up in the second session on September 28th.
Responding to another question pertaining to the vaccination, the government stated that in the last one year, a total of 34610064 people were vaccinated against Covid in Ahmedabad city, out of which 4487654 people were vaccinated with Covishield, 229035 people were vaccinated with Covaxin and 7933 people were vaccinated with Sputnik.
While in Ahmedabad district, a total of 1195218 people were vaccinated with Covishield, and 95951 people were vaccinated with Covaxin vaccine.
