Gujarat is expected to receive light thunderstorms with moderate rainfall on Friday, November 19, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted. Meanwhile, the state recorded scattered rainfall without monsoon on Thursday.
“Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind less than 40 kmph accompanied with light to moderate rain is very likely at isolated places in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Anand, Bharuch, Surat and in Kutch along with light rain very likely at isolated places in Saurashtra districts of Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar and Rajkot,” read the IMD forecast.
Over 93 talukas received rain on Thursday with Narmada districts’ Tilakwada received highest rainfall of 72 mm. Idar received the second-highest rain of the day with 66 mm. Idar was followed by Vadali in Sabarkantha district with 60 mm and kheralu in Mehsana district with 52 mm.
The IMD has cited the trough from the cyclone circulation associated with the Low Pressure Area (LPA) over East-central Arabian Sea to south MP across north Maharashtra for the unseasonal rains in a few states of the country.
