Monsoon Covers Entire Gujarat: IMD Issues Alerts for Heavy Rainfall

The monsoon has made its presence felt across the entire state of Gujarat today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its latest forecast, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in specific districts until June 28th. An orange alert has been issued for several regions, indicating the likelihood of significant precipitation.

Orange Alert Districts:

  • Bharuch
  • Surat
  • Rajkot
  • Jamnagar
  • Porbandar
  • Junagadh
  • Amreli
  • Morbi
  • Dwarka
  • Gir Somnath

These districts are expected to experience heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy (115.6-204.4 mm) rainfall today.

Yellow Alert Districts:

  • Banaskantha
  • Patan
  • Panchmahal
  • Dahod
  • Vadodara
  • Chhota Udepur
  • Narmada
  • Navsari
  • Valsad
  • Surendranagar
  • Bhavnagar
  • Botad
  • Kutch
  • Daman-Diu
  • Dadra Nagar Haveli

These areas are likely to witness heavy rains during the same period.

On June 28th (Friday), an orange alert remains in effect for the following districts:

  • Porbandar
  • Junagadh
  • Dwarka
  • Gir Somnath
  • Diu

These regions are at risk of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Additionally, districts such as Anand, Surat, Dangs, Navsari, Valsad, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Kutch, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli have been marked with a yellow alert due to the probability of heavy rains.

While the bulletin indicates varying levels of rainfall, light to moderate showers are expected to prevail across the entire state during this period. Residents and authorities are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions during the monsoon season.
