Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat arrived in Vadodara on a three-day visit to Gujarat.
Bhagwat is likely to tackle the reported internal frictions between factions of the BJP in the state ahead of the Lok Sabha elections as well as the ongoing Kshatriya agitation against Union Minister Parshottam Rupala. Rupala is BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Rajkot.
Bhagwat, slated to hold three meetings in Bharuch, Vadodara and Gandhinagar, will also perform a puja at the Dutt Temple in Garudeshwar in Narmada district on Sunday.
Albeit Bhagwat is not scheduled to meet any political leaders during his visit, a few selected “budhheejeevis” (intellectuals) or “prominent citizens” have been invited to the interaction with the RSS chief at all three locations, said people in the know of things.
Bhagwat arrived in Vadodara by train at Chhayapuri Railway station and proceeded to Bharuch later in the day. While one meeting with the prominent citizens was held on Saturday, another similar meeting is to be held on Sunday before he proceeds to Ahmedabad, where he will address a similar gathering.
An RSS leader said, “Mohanji’s visit had been long planned before the political developments locally and even before the agitations began. He is touring different cities to interact with people as usual. It is not to be seen from the lens of the upcoming polls as the RSS does not campaign for elections. The interaction with the (prominent) citizens is focussed on the larger issues of nation building and society,” The RSS is the ideological parent of the ruling BJP.
