Ahmedabad-born Bhupendra Patel on Monday took oath as the chief minister of Gujarat for a second straight term at a glittering event in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP chief ministers and leaders. Sixteen ministers in Patel’s government were also sworn-in on Monday, including Kanu Desai, Balwantsinh Rajput, and Hrishikesh Patel.
The Cabinet ministers who took oath on Monday are Kanu Desai, Balwantsinh Rajput, Hrishikesh Patel, Raghavji Patel, Kunvarji Bavaliya, Mulu Bera, Kuber Dindor, and Bhanuben Babaria.
Harsh Sanghvi and Jagdish Vishwakarma were sworn-in as ministers of state with independent charge. Also, state ministers Parsottam Solanki, Bachu Khabar, Mukesh Patel, Praful Panseria, Bhikhusinh Parmar and Kunvarji Halpati were sworn-in as well.
Apart from Modi and Amit Shah, BJP stalwarts such as JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with other BJP chief ministers were present at the event.
Patel was administered oath as the 18th Chief Minister of Gujarat by Governor Acharya Devvrat at a function held at the Helipad Ground inside the new secretariat complex in the state capital at 2 pm.
Patel’s Cabinet includes three ministers from North Gujarat, four from Central Gujarat, and two from Ahmedabad. Bhanu Baria is the lone woman minister.
