Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a meeting with over two dozen influential thought leaders from diverse fields on Tuesday. This gathering will encompass Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, academicians, and experts from the health sector.
Among the notable personalities set to meet with Modi are entrepreneur and owner of Tesla and Twitter, Elon Musk, renowned astrophysicist and author Neil deGrasse Tyson, Nobel laureate economist Paul Romer, acclaimed author Nicholas Nassim Taleb, and prominent investor Ray Dalio. Other esteemed individuals attending the meeting include Falu Shah, Jeff Smith, Michael Froman, Daniel Russel, Elbridge Colby, Peter Agre, Stephen Klasko, and Chandrika Tandon, according to officials.
The purpose of the meeting is to foster better synergy, gain insights into the latest developments in the United States, and extend invitations for collaboration with India. The agenda includes conversations on various issues and exploring opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.
Prime Minister Modi has consistently emphasized people-to-people connections during his visits to different countries, and meeting with thought leaders has been a crucial part of this approach, as officials noted.
During his stay in New York, Prime Minister Modi will also mark the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters, alongside the UN leadership and members of the international community.
The visit to the United States, spanning from June 21 to June 24, comes at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. A state dinner in honor of Prime Minister Modi will be hosted by the Bidens on June 22. Additionally, Modi is scheduled to address a joint session of the US Congress on the same day.
This landmark state visit holds great significance as Prime Minister Modi aims to enhance trade and investment relations with the US, while also strengthening ties in the technology sector, encompassing areas such as telecom, space, and manufacturing. The visit is poised to deepen the strategic partnership between India and the United States.
