In light of the Congress party’s victory in the Karnataka Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his congratulations. He also complimented the BJP’s workers for their tireless efforts on the party’s campaign.
With the fall of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai shortly after the Congress lead passed 130 seats, the BJP lost its lone stronghold in the south today. The BJP is ahead on 60-plus seats and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s Janata Dal (Secular) in over 20 seats.
“Congratulations to the Congress party for their victory in the Karnataka assembly polls. My best wishes to them in fulfilling people’s aspirations,” PM Modi tweeted.
“I thank all those who have supported us in the Karnataka elections. I appreciate the hard work of BJP karyakartas (party workers). We shall serve Karnataka with even more vigour in the times to come,” he added in a tweet.
For the BJP, PM Modi has conducted intensive campaigning throughout Karnataka. The party’s officials in the state had faith that PM Modi’s efforts would provide them with the boost they urgently needed to maintain power.
