Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive rally in Mota Varachha in Surat on Sunday. Thousands gathered on the 27-km-long route from the airport to Mota Varachha for Modi’s roadshow.
“Those who do political analysis if they have seen, it was not just a roadshow but a sea of people. They will have to say that Gujarat will break all records. In percentage of votes for BJP and number of seats for BJP as well,” said Modi.
Modi said he is indebted to Surtis and he will repay it. “People of Gujarat tell me that ‘why you are worrying and you do not need to come to Gujarat we will manage’. From seeing the scene, I noticed that they have already managed. I have come to take blessings,” he said.
“I see Surat’s contribution in Dang, in modern hospitals, massive blood donation camps, developing huge lakes, making schools and solar parks. The city has contributed to community development. Surat is among top 10 fastest developing cities. Diamond city, textile city, bridge city, dream city and now an IT startup network is developing. Surat will direct the state in IT development,” Modi added.
He described how a biodiversity park and riverfront project will add value to the city’s growth. The growth will not be possible without infrastructure development. “Congress’s and our thinking is different. Congress thinks that there is no need for infrastructure. Do only those things from where you get votes. Do communal politics, corruption, jativad, divide people and take your share,” Modi said.
“In Lok Sabha, defence minister from Congress said that they are not developing a road on China border to prevent China to enter from this,’’ Modi said.
“When there was no double engine government, the then Delhi Congress government did not give metro to Surat. For the airport, they did not understand that Surat needed it, they did not hear our demand. Now the Surat airport is busy, we are developing the airport in Ankleshwar as well,” said Modi.
“We started ferry service. Earlier, it used to take around 10 hours to reach Saurashtra. Now in only three to four hours, one can reach and without any risk of an accident. You can go with your vehicle, finish work and return.”
