A minor girl orchestrated the murder of her own mother, Gujarat police investigation has found after a month-long probe into the incident that took place in Bhuj.
The police had to take the help of locals in the area, and print pamphlets detailing the deceased woman’s description at public places.
The 17-year-old killed her mother for opposing her relationship with a 37-year-old man, who was also her mother’s lover, the police said. The decomposed body of the victim was found half-buried near a seashore in Kutch.
The police arrested the minor, her lover Yogesh Jotiyana (37), and his friend Naran Jogi (35) who helped them in the crime. All are residents of Madhapar village near Bhuj.
During the month-long investigation, the police had to take the help of locals in the area, and print pamphlets detailing the deceased woman’s description at public places.
“The place where the body was found was completely isolated. Very few people like local fishermen or cattle breeders familiar with the area’s geography come here. Therefore, there was a strong possibility of involvement of some local person,” said an officer.
The police roped local villagers as informers to find out if some outsiders had visited the seashore or the village recently. They soon found out that four people had come to Hamirmora about a month and a half ago to take part in a social function. Cops acquired the call detail records of that day and found Jotiyana’s location near the crime spot.
Cops got his address and picked him up for questioning during which he confessed to the murder. He said the three accused then plotted to kill Lakshmi by taking her to the function.
On July 13, Jotaniya reportedly rained blows on Lakshmi’s head when they went for an outing at the seashore. After she died, they buried her body at an isolated place and left.
Seven years ago, Lakshmi married Jitendra Bhatt and this was her second marriage. She and her only daughter from the first marriage lived with him in Madhapar. Six months ago, Lakshmi had an affair with Jotiyana, who did painting jobs. She met the latter even after bitter quarrels with her husband.
Meanwhile, about three months ago, the 17-year-old also developed a liking for each other. Lakshmi got to know about their affair, which led to fights with the girl. This led to the minor plot of her murder, said police.
