Pricked by his wife’s large fan following on Instagram, a man reportedly strangled her inside their car near Lucknow, that too in front of their two kids.
Police said the woman had a substantial fan base on Insta and she had also reportedly blocked her husband from her profile. This led him to suspect her intentions.
As per the reports, the incident occurred on Sunday around 5 am when the family embarked on their journey to Rae Bareilly. On the way, the man diverted his car to Purvanchal Expressway, where the couple got into a heated argument. Following this, the man strangled her to death in his SUV in front of their two kids near Mujesh intersection, Sultanpur.
The incident came to light when a highway patrolling team found the two children standing outside the locked vehicle on the highway. The 37-year-old businessman was found to have locked himself inside the car, while his two children were left traumatised and screaming outside. The patrol team then alerted the nearest police station.
The daughter of the accused disclosed her father’s harrowing crime to the police, which led to his arrest.
The accused reportedly runs a tours and travel agency while his wife was a homemaker. The couple shared two kids, a 12-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son. The family is said to be residents of the Para locality in Lucknow.
The police said the motive of the man behind the murder appears to be a deep-rooted inferiority complex emanating from the substantial Instagram following that the victim enjoyed. The victim-wife had purportedly blocked her husband which had added more to his insecurities. The accused husband suspected that some of the victim’s social media followers would visit her in his absence.
The victim’s Instagram account is currently locked and private, and remains to be examined by the authorities, they said.
