The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned the fishermen of the Gujarat Coast of the upcoming harsh weather conditions in the next five days. They have advised the fishermen to dodge the open sea and other areas because of the bad weather conditions and the possibility of heavy rains. IMD issued the alert at 12:30 PM on 9th April 2022.
IMD informs the fishermen of the probability of blustery weather accompanied by strong winds and storms. According to the data given by IMD, the wind speed in open sea areas would range between 40-and 60 kph. The heavy winds are likely to prevail along and off the Kerala coast.
The Met Department has issued a warning for 9th and 10th April 2022 regarding severe weather conditions in the Comorin area and areas adjoining the South-East Arabian Sea. In the alert issued, the IMD mentions that fishermen should not venture into the above-mentioned areas for the next five days until the situation gets updated.
However, there was no mention of a fishermen’s warning for the Gujarat coasts in the north or south. The North Gujarat coast includes ports like Jakhau, Mandvi(Kutch), Mundra, New Kandla, Navlakhi, Jamnagar, Salaya, Okha, and Porbandar. The South Gujarat Coast includes MulDwarka, Veraval, Diu, Jafrabad, Pipavav, Victor, Bhavnagar, Alang, Bharuch, Dahej, Magdalla, and Daman.
There are no fishermen warnings for the open sea and other areas on 11th April, 12th April, and 13th April 2022.
