Maruti Suzuki India Ltd will recall over 1,81,754 of its petrol variant cars to look into and rectify faults in their motor-generator unit, said the company on Friday. It will be the second-largest safety action by an automaker in India.
Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest carmaker, will recall more than 1.80 lakh cars due to technical glitches. These include the company’s Ciaz, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, S-cross and XL6 variants. The cars manufactured between May 4, 2018 and October 27, 2020 will be recalled. Such recall campaigns are taken to rectify faults that may cause potential safety issues, said Maruti Suzuki.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the company will start the recall process from November 2021 in the interest of customers. In which the motor generator unit of the vehicles will be inspected. If it is found to be faulty, it will be repaired.
Maruti officials will inform the vehicle owners about this from the workshop. If any defects are found in any part of the vehicles, the repair work will start in the first week of November 2021.
Car companies take back cars and repair faulty parts at their own expense to strengthen their reputation. In 2020, Maruti Suzuki had recalled 3,80,615 cars.
