Maha CM To Be Decided After Elections: Shah

| Updated: November 10, 2024 18:28

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated that the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra will retain power with a full majority and the decision on the Chief Minister will be made by the alliance partners after the state elections.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Sunday after unveiling the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) manifesto for the state Assembly elections, Shah expressed confidence in a Mahayuti victory.

He stated that all three alliance partners—the BJP, Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party—have released their manifestos. Following the elections, a committee of ministers from the three parties will be formed to prioritise the promises made.

“At present, Eknath Shinde is the chief minister. After the elections, all three alliance partners will decide on the chief minister,” he said.

He said that Sharad Pawar gave priority to his daughter over Ajit Pawar, while Uddhav Thackeray gave priority to his son over Eknath Shinde, which caused the Shiv Sena and NCP to fall out.

“These parties gave priority to their family members and the parties split. They blame the BJP for no reason,” he asserted.

Shah claimed that although the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leadership has been criticising the Mahayuti government’s ‘Ladki Bahin’ initiative for women, but they have also promised similar and higher financial support.

“This shows their contradictions. Instead of taking stock of our performance, Rahul Gandhi should check what is happening in the states ruled by his party. During the MVA rule, Maharashtra was at the 4th position (in terms of FDI) while in the last two years, the state has got the highest FDI,” he claimed.
