In the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is presently in Haryana, a guy walking barefoot has drawn notice. By profession, an advocate Vikram Pratap Singh, who is from Madhya Pradesh and is taking part in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, stands out from the other participants by going barefoot.
In the past 2.5 months, Singh, a native of Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district, has travelled more than 1200 kilometres on foot. “I have left footwear from 28th October last year after Rahul Gandhi started this Bharat Jodo Yatra. I want to spread the message of this Yatra in the country and I wanted to join this Yatra since the start but I took one resolve to spread his message,” Singh said.
“I joined this Yatra from Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh and have arrived in Panipat, Haryana, barefoot,” he continued. Despite the trouble in his foot, Singh is walking barefoot and attributes his motivation to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. “When I see Rahul Gandhi in the Yatra then it inspires me and motivates me to walk more despite the pain,” Singh mentioned.
Native of Madhya Pradesh, he is confident in his ability to complete the Yatra without shoes and would continue to spread the word even after January 30. When asked about the difficulties of going barefoot in extreme weather, Singh claims that his agony is less than that of those who are experiencing inflation and unemployment.
On Friday morning, the Bharat Jodo Yatra continued its journey from here on the opening day of the second part of the Haryana leg. From December 21 to 23, the yatra travelled more than 130 km across the districts of Nuh, Gurugram, and Faridabad in Haryana.
Rahul Gandhi will hoist the national flag on January 30 in Srinagar, marking the conclusion of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began in Kanyakumari on September 7.
