The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has recently granted the construction mandate for the Mumbai Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project, covering a 135.45 km stretch, to Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The scope of the contract includes the construction of viaducts, stations, major river bridges, depots, tunnels, earth structures, and other auxiliary works.

After this contract, L&T will be responsible for executing 92% of the main line between Shilphata in the state of Maharashtra and Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat. SV Desai, L&T’s Whole Time Director & Senior Executive Vice President (Civil Infrastructure), expressed his thoughts on the occasion, stating, “This is the second-largest package L&T has secured in this prestigious project, and we are deeply honoured by the trust placed in us by our client, NHSRCL. With the implementation of cutting-edge construction techniques and extensive digital technologies, we are committed to completing this project, drawing from our experience in executing other MAHSR packages presently underway.”

The ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, commonly known as the MAHSR Bullet Train project, is set to span approximately 508 km, with 155.76 km in the State of Maharashtra, 4.3 km in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and 348.04 km in the State of Gujarat. The route will include 12 stations. Upon completion, the High-Speed Rail will operate at a speed of 320 kmph, covering the entire distance in about two hours with limited stops and in three hours with all stops.
