| Updated: October 11, 2024 19:56

Despite the monsoon’s retreat from most parts of the state, a well-defined low-pressure system over the east-central Arabian Sea, near the Karnataka-Goa coast, brought rainfall to parts of Gujarat in the 24 hours leading up to 6 AM today. A total of 77 talukas across the state experienced rainfall during this period, with 17 talukas recording over an inch of rain.

Valod taluka saw the heaviest downpour, recording 77 mm (3 inches) of rainfall, followed by Vyara with 73 mm (2.8 inches) and Dolvan with 69 mm (2.6 inches), making Tapi district the only area to experience significant rainfall. Several other talukas also saw substantial rainfall, including Koidnar, Palsana, Mangrol, Mahuva, Gandevi, Surat City, Kamrej, Songadh, Mandvi, Sutrapada, Subir, Khergam, Mahuva (Bhavnagar) and Chikli, all of which recorded over an inch of rain.

The rainfall was primarily concentrated in the coastal regions of South Gujarat and some coastal areas in Saurashtra.
