Can you reduce your weight by 30 kilos in just 6 months? Seems impossible, right? Wrong. A 44-year-old woman has recently accomplished this remarkable feat by a staggered exercise regime diligently followed over the period of time. A mother of three, she initially started small with a 20-minute workout routine in her bedroom.
The woman says, as reported by the media, to have gained weight after becoming a mother in her 30s. “I’ve really struggled with food my whole life, I had no education about what balanced meals were or how to cook for myself,” she said.
By slowly changing her daily routine with a mix of exercise and dietary habits, she started losing weight by 1 kilo a week. But not losing hope, she added a 10-minute walk around the block and started exercising with weights in her house to expedite the process. She confessed to having bad food habits which were loaded with carbs and sugar and had no protein. That apart, she always had white bread, jam and fried foods.
Unable to find much support around, she decided to do everything on her own as didn’t even hire a personal trainer or dietician to help her in the weight loss journey.
“I started in my bedroom, my safe space, and the progress was really slow but I started noticing a change in how I moved and ate. I fell in love with the routine and eating well – I lost 30kg in about six months and I loved the way I looked,” she said.
By and by she got so used to regular and clean eating habits inculcated in these 150-odd days that the family started imbibing the same and she incorporated many good things in the family meals as well.
She said her kids also used to eat carbs and sugar like her, but these days their diet comprises more protein intensive things and those too mostly homemade and healthy. She focuses on having good carbs like quinoa, brown rice, sweet potato, and whole-meal bread.
Now after the transformation, her amazed family and friends are urging her to start coaching people who are struggling to lose weight.
“I have really started offering a wellness programme that is a mix of fitness, nutrition, and accountability – and it’s truly been the most gratifying thing,” she said.
There are a few takeaways from this weight loss journey that others can take note of. Clean eating, focusing on homemade and healthy foods; including a fixed schedule of exercise no matter how short it is, incorporating the dietary and fitness changes to your family members, and remaining consistent in the journey are a few of the notable lessons one can learn from this.
