Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are reportedly set to miss the Met Gala 2025, marking their third consecutive absence from fashion’s most prestigious event.
A US-based media outlet reported that their decision to skip Anna Wintour’s celebrated gathering was made well before Lively’s legal dispute with It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni came to light.
The couple, known for their striking Met Gala appearances, last attended in 2022 when they served as co-chairs. While some have speculated that Lively’s ongoing legal battle influenced their choice, sources close to the situation assert otherwise, emphasising that they “made the call long before any of that unfolded.”
Lively’s 2022 Met Gala appearance marked her 10th time attending the star-studded event. That year, she and Reynolds co-chaired alongside Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda for the “Gilded Glamour” theme.
Lively captivated attendees in a custom Atelier Versace gown, which dramatically changed from a copper hue to a striking aqua as she ascended the museum steps. The moment remains one of the most memorable in Met Gala history.
Reports indicate that the couple opted to focus on family time with their children in 2024. They were recently seen together at Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary celebration.
The upcoming Met Gala will follow the theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, announced in October 2024. Inspired by the exhibit’s emphasis on menswear, the dress code is described as offering flexible interpretation, encouraging guests to showcase their own creative takes on the concept.
