Hemanshi Patel, the daughter of Arvindbhai Patel, owner of Morbi-based Ajvito Tiles, is marrying Jay¸ son of Rajkot-based industrialist Maulesh Patel and Sonal Patel. The highlight of the wedding is that the ceremonies are being held at the famous Hotel Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur.

The property is currently run by the Taj group of hotels and is said to be one of the top three hotels in India. The price per plate at the wedding is Rs 18,000 and the cost of a room (per night) is Rs 7,50,000. Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and American singer Nick Jonas also got married at the same hotel.

Reports suggest that the wedding celebrations will be spread across three days. Both Umaid Bhavan and the neighbouring Ajit Bhavan have been fully booked between November 14-16. The events include a mehendi rasam, Lord Dwarkadhishji’s aarti, a performance by renowned artist Aishwarya Majumadar, etc. The main wedding ceremony is scheduled on November 16 at Mehrangarh Fort. Around 300 guests will attend the celebrations.

The palace is 75 years old and belonged to Maharaja Umaid Singh. He started building it in 1929, and it took 14 years to complete. The palace has 347 rooms and is also the royal residence of the royal family of Jodhpur. The property spans 26 acres, with the palace built on 3.5 acres; the gardens are 15 acres. At the time of construction, it was named Chittar Palace as it was situation on a hill called Chittar which is the highest point in Jodhpur.

Currently, the property is divided into three sections – a comfortable luxury hotel (since 1972), the royal family’s residence and a small museum that is open to the public, which displays paintings, weapons, swords and other items showing the heritage of Jodhpur.
