Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has stressed the need for introducing fresh leadership and strengthening the party’s organisational framework to progress effectively.
Speaking at the ‘Nav Satyagrah Baithak’ of the Congress Working Committee in Belagavi, Karnataka, Kharge said that while diligent work is crucial for success, a sound plan and direction are just as crucial.
Kharge outlined the party’s strategies for addressing organisational gaps and giving its members the resources they need to succeed in elections.
In his remarks posted on X (formerly Twitter), Kharge said, “Hard work alone is not enough; a time-bound and solid strategy and direction are necessary. There is a need to give a chance to new power and bring forth local and new leadership.”
“I want to say that the year 2025 will be the year of our organisational empowerment. We will fill all the vacant posts in the organisation. We will fully implement the Udaipur Declaration. We will equip our organisation with the necessary skills to win elections from AICC to Mandal and booth. We will have to find such people who are ideologically committed. Who are ready to fight to protect the Constitution. Who believe in the Idea of India of the Congress Party. Such people will have to be connected to the party. They will have to be brought into the mainstream. They will have to be involved and connected in the activities of the organization,” he added.
During AICC’s Belagavi session, the CWC met to mark the centennial of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth.
Kharge emphasised that the Congress will return with a fresh message and resolution while also honouring the contributions of Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi.
“We have the legacy of great leaders, the power of ideas, and the legacy of Gandhi-Nehru,” he continued. “After Belgaum, we will be back with a fresh message and a fresh determination. We called this conference ‘Nav Satyagraha’ because even His Excellency (PM Modi), who holds a constitutional position, is questioning Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha today.”
The Congress workers should “expose and defeat” the BJP, Kharge said, accusing them of “spreading lies”. “Those who have taken an oath on the Constitution are the ones spreading lies. Those in positions of authority use lies to blame us. Such individuals must be exposed and defeated,” he stated.
He ended by quoting Gandhiji, who said, “Truth endures even in the absence of popular support. We are supported by crores of people and have the truth.”
