In another incident of infighting within the BJP, Rakesh Devani, a BJP leader from Veraval, released a video saying that the recent utterances of newly elected Junagadh MP Rajesh Chudasama is a threat directed at him and his family.
The Junagadh MP, who was able to retain his seat for the third time, made headlines when he threatened to ” set right” those who had “come in his way.”. While addressing a gathering to felicitate him for his win, the MP said that even if the BJP doesn’t take any action against his adversaries within the party, he will definitely bring them to account. He had not named anyone in his speech.
Rakesh Devani, the executive member of the Junagadh District BJP, has claimed that he and his family are directly concerned with the veiled threat by the MP. Devani said that he fears for his life. He said if anything untoward happens to him, the MP should be held accountable. He has written a letter to the top hierarchy in the BJP, including the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Chief Minister, Home State Minister, and the administration (District Police Chief and Collector), saying that his life is in danger.
Rajesh Chudasama being retained by the BJP as their Junagadh Lok Sabha seat candidate in the 2024 election was a surprise to many. He made headlines for the wrong reasons when his name came up in connection with the suicide of a doctor in Veraval. Dr. Atul Chag’s who died by suicide, named the MP in his suicide note as one responsible. It is believed that Rajesh Chudasama has reasons to believe that Rakesh Devani has been fanning the Chag controversy against him.
Rajesh Chudasama won the 2024 elections with the smallest lead in the Saurashtra region.
