The Hurun India Rich List, which was unveiled on Thursday, is an annual list prepared by the Hurun Report, which tracks and rates the wealth of the richest people and families in India.
It offers a quick overview of the state of the economy and highlights the achievements of people who have accumulated substantial fortune in a variety of sectors.
With a wealth of Rs 7,300 crore at the age of 58, Shah Rukh Khan has made a stunning debut on the 2024 Hurun India Rich List. As the owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the defending champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the head of his film production company, Red Chillies Entertainment, SRK has established himself as a formidable figure in both sports and entertainment. He is among the most followed individuals on the list with 44.1 million X (formally Twitter) and 47.4 million Instagram followers.
Shah Rukh Khan’s financial standing has been greatly impacted by his recent successes in the film industry. He returned to the screen spectacularly with the film Pathaan, which earned Rs 1,055 crore worldwide and Rs 543.09 crore at home after a four-year hiatus. Jawan, his second film, did better than its predecessor, taking in Rs 1,160 crore globally and Rs 640.25 crore in India. His career was further boosted by the Rajkumar Hirani-directed movie Dunki, which brought in Rs 227 crore in India and Rs 454 crore worldwide.
Actress Juhi Chawla and her family, who hold a fortune of Rs 4,600 crore, are listed after actor Shah Rukh Khan. The actress is ranked second among Bollywood celebrities. She co-owns the Kolkata Knight Riders IPL team with Shah Rukh Khan. Actor Hrithik Roshan, whose net worth is Rs 2,000 crore, comes in third. With 32.3 million followers on X, he stands second in terms of social media followings and his lucrative athleisure brand, HRX, contributes to his fortune.
The fourth-richest person on the list is none other than the renowned actor Amitabh Bachchan, whose fortune of Rs 1,600 crore comes mostly from their numerous investments. The actor was last seen in Kalki in AD 2898. With a net worth of Rs 1,400 crore, multifaceted presenter, actor, producer and director of Dharma Productions Karan Johar comes in fifth place.
On the work front, Karan Johar’s film Kill, released in July, was well-received by fans and critics alike. Additionally, he announced Dhadak 2 last month.
