Jio, which has been the largest telecom operator in Gujarat, had continued to remain revenue market share leader in the quarter ending on June 30, 2021. Compared with the previous quarter Jio’s revenue in the state increased by 7% or Rs80 crore from Rs1,045.55 crore in the quarter ending on March 31, 2021, to Rs1,125.73 crore in the quarter ending on June 30, 2021.
The telecom regulatory, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) released financial reports of the industry for the quarter ending on June 30, 2021. As per the report, Jio enjoys a share of over 45% of the total aggregated gross revenue (AGR) generated by all the telcos in the Gujarat circle.
The state-owned telecom company, BSNL too posts positive growth in the quarter. The AGR of BSNL in Gujarat increased by 5% or Rs7.52 crore from Rs151.04 crore in the quarter ending on March 31, 2021, to Rs158.56 crore in the quarter ending on June 30, 2021. The revenue market share of BSNL is 6.50%.
The second-largest telecom operator, Vodafone Idea has posted a marginal fall in its revenue in the period. The AGR of the operator fell by Rs 5 crore from Rs674 crore in the quarter ending on March 31, 2021, to Rs 669.11 crore in the quarter ending on June 30, 2021. The revenue market share of Vodafone Idea is 27.27% in the Gujarat circle.
Despite successfully acquired new customers the three months from April to June in 2021, Bharti Airtel posted a fall of 6% or Rs 30 crore in revenue in the Gujarat circle. The AGR of the company fell from Rs 503.11 crore in the quarter ending on March 31, 2021, to Rs 472.57 crore in the quarter ending on June 30, 2021.
After discontinuing their mobility business in the circle, the revenue market share of the operators – Reliance Communication and Tata Teleservices remained 1% or less than of it.
The total AGR of all six telecom operators of Gujarat – Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel, BSNL, Tata Teleservices, and Reliance Communication – was Rs 2,404.41 crore in the quarter ending on March 31, 2021. It increased by about Rs 50 crore or 2% to Rs 2,453.88 crore in the quarter ending on June 30, 2021.
