Nexus Malls announced their partnership with Jio-BP, a fuel and mobility joint venture between BP and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), for the deployment of cutting-edge EV charging stations and battery swapping stations across their portfolio of 17 malls in 13 cities.
In addition to building and launching two of India’s largest EV charging hubs last year, Jio-BP is constructing an ecosystem that will benefit all the participants in the EV value chain.
As part of the collaboration, EV charging stations for two- and four-wheelers will be put in Nexus malls around the clock. From June 2022, these charging stations will be made initially available in Nexus malls in Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Ahmedabad.
Along with other green measures, Nexus will encourage its customers to charge their cars at their malls to hasten the adoption of electric vehicles. The government has devised a number of incentives, including rebates, lower loan interest rates, exemptions from road charges, and even registration fee exemptions, to promote the purchase and manufacturing of EVs across the nation. India now has a flagship programme called Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric (FAME) vehicles to promote electric mobility. Two-wheeler EV sales increased by 422% between 2019 and 2021, three-wheeler sales increased by 75%, and four-wheeler sales increased by 230%.
The EV market is anticipated to expand more in the upcoming year’s thanks to these incentives. Through the Jio digital platform, the joint venture makes use of Reliance’s nationwide footprint and its millions of customers. Customers can quickly locate charging stations nearby and smoothly charge their EVs using the Jio-BP pulse mobile app.
