Jenny Virjibhai Thummar took charge as the the President of the Gujarat Pradesh Mahila Congress (GPMC) on Saturday in the presence of Congress State President Jagdish Thakor and AICC State in charge Raghu Sharma.She replaced Gayatriba Vaghela as head of the Gujarat Pradesh Mahila Congress.
Last month Congress president Sonia Gandhi appointed Thummar as head of the party’s women’s wing in the state where polls are slated to be held later this year.
Speaking to VoI, Jenny said,“I thank Hon’ble Congress President, Sonia Gandhi ji and Rahul Gandhi ji for giving me an opportunity to lead the Mahila Congress in Gujarat. This change shall project positively in the upcoming state elections”.
Jenny Thummar is the former president of Amreli district panchayat, also she has been supporting Congress as a spokesperson.
Jenny is the only daughter of senior Congress leader Veerjibhai Thummar.Veerjibhai is a senior Congress MLA, he has been elected for the fourth time, he has also represented Amreli Lok Sabha.
