A soldier from the Indian Army has been arrested in connection with the killing of four fellow soldiers at the Bathinda Military Station, according to a senior Punjab Police official.
Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police Gulneet Singh Khurana identified the arrested soldier as Desai Mohan, and said, “The motive was personal. He had enmity with them.” The incident occurred on April 12, when the four soldiers were shot dead in their sleep.
The Bathinda Cantonment police station filed an FIR under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Arms Act against two persons before Mohan came forward with his eyewitness account.
He claimed to have seen two men wearing white kurta-pyjamas and their faces covered with cloth, carrying an INSAS rifle and an axe. The Bathinda Military Station is a crucial base for the Indian Army and comprises several operational units.
