The book “Jail: Itihas and Vartaman” was launched by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at CM House on Tuesday. The book has been published by the Gujarat Prison Department after going through an exhaustive study of all jails across the state. The study depicts various reformation/rehabilitation of the prisoners and to change the mindset of the prisoners.
The prospective income generated from the sale of this book will be deposited in the Prisoners Welfare Fund and will be utilized for the welfare of the prisoners. The book will be helpful to the general public at large to understand life in jail. The book consists of around 45 different topics on various jails like arrangement of jail in society, types of prisoners, economics of jail, conclusion of reformative activities, stay experience of various freedom fighters including Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Veer Savarkar, etc in Sabarmati jail and other such topics.
The book has been published under the leadership of Dr. KLN Rao, Additional DGP, Prisons and Correctional Administration. Also, State Minister (Home) Pradipsinh Jadeja and Additional Chief Secretary, Home Dept., Pankaj Kumar were also present at the launch event.
