The ITC Narmada Hotel, a renowned five-star establishment on Judges Bungalows Road, has been fined Rs 50,000 by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) after an insect was found in food on Wednesday.
The issue came to light following a complaint to the AMC regarding an insect found in food served at the hotel.
In response to the complaint, the AMC has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the hotel. The action has been taken against Himanshu Batra, the current manager of ITC Narmada, highlighting the seriousness with which the AMC is addressing this lapse in hygiene.
This incident is part of a broader trend of insect-related issues reported in various hotels and restaurants across Gujarat, with the recent findings at the five-star ITC Narmada intensifying the concern over food safety standards.
Earlier, the civic body had sealed the kitchen of the Hyatt Hotel located next to the Nexus Ahmedabad One mall in the Vastrapur area after an insect was found in a dish served at the hotel.
