After Ahmedabad, Income Tax (IT) Department has shifted its attention to Vadodara and Surat. The officials raided more than a dozen places in these two cities, most of which are connected to renowned cardiologist, Dr. Darshan Banker.
Dr. Banker’s group has five hospitals in Vadodara, which include Bankers Heart and Multi Speciality Hospital in Warasiya, and Bankers Heart Institute in Diwalipura area of the city. The group also has a Bankers Heart Institute at Floral Park Road in Surat.
The IT officials also targeted Dr. Banker’s residence in Alkapuri area of Vadodara.
Nearly 50 officials are involved in the operation. The authorities believe that they would find many anonymous transactions that would be worth significant amount of money.
The IT department, in the past two months, targeted many businesses, especially coaching classes in Ahmedabad and other cities of the state, for alleged evasion of taxes.
