When former Pakistan Minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhary tweeted a three word post- ‘Rahul on fire’ on social media platform X on 1st May, he probably would not have imagined how big fodder he has provided to Narenda Modi, the leader having the most astute understanding of political pulse in recent memory.
In cricket parlance, PM Modi was quick to step out and convert the delivery to a full toss by saying that Pakistan is rooting for Rahul as their interests lie in having a weaker government in New Delhi. Employing the term “Mureed” for Congress with respect to Pakistan, PM Modi said, Congress is like a fascinated disciple of Pakistan. Modi was campaigning for BJP candidates for Anand (Mitesh Patel) and Kheda (Devusinh Chauhan).
Fawad Hussain Chaudhary, an ex Minister of Information and Broadcasting breached the unspoken rule of not commenting on politics of another soverein country, especially when the same happens to be having relations as acromonious as India and Paksitan. The comments coming at a time when both the major political parties are fighting a very high stake political battle in the backdrop of parliamentrary elections were sure to create controvery it created.
Modi claimed Congress is “frustrated” and “appeasing” the Muslim vote bank. The Prime Minister thundered in a rally : ” Pakistan is impatient to make Shehzada the prime minister… And we know that Congress is a “Mureed” of Pakistan. This partnership between Pakistan and the Congress has now been fully exposed”.
Narendra Modi added: “The country’s enemies want a weak government. A weak government like the one during the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai..” PM was at his scathing best when he said ” our government does not believe in sending ‘dossiers’ and instead ‘killed terrorists in their homes’.
Modi also referred to Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Maria Alam’s call for a “vote jihad”. Though he didn’t name her, Modi said: “This call does not come from a teenager from a madrasa, but from a highly qualified member of a family of a senior Congress leader” Maria Alam is niece of senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid.
