Rajasthan Royals settled their IPL 2022 dues of their first match loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore by handing them their fourth defeat in IPL 2022 and has acquired the top spot on the points table. After winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore chose to field and the Faf Du Plessis’ army was successful in restricting Rajasthan Royals to 144 runs in 20 overs.
Rajasthan Royals lost both their opening batsman – Devdutt Padikkal and in-form Jos Buttler in the initial overs and their innings crumbled. R Ashwin was next to bat, who departed in 17 runs off 9 balls. Sanju Samson played some big shots but only contributed 27 runs off 21 balls before losing his wicket to Wanindu Hasaranga. Daryl Mitchell and Riyan Parag were next on the crease and the latter scored an unbeaten 56 runs off 31 balls to mark a total of 144 runs in 20 overs. Bangalore’s bowling department took eight wickets in total with Mohammad Siraj, Hazelwood and Hasaranga taking two wickets each and Harshal Patel taking one.
It was easy for Bangalore to chase down a 145-runs target in 20 overs but it was not as easy for the red army as it seemed. RCB lost wickets early and Virat Kohli was the first batsman sent back by the RR, Kohli scored 9 runs off 10 balls in this match after getting out for golden ducks in the last two of his matches. The following batting line-up could not handle the storm by Rajasthan’s bowlers and were all sent back in 115 runs with 3 balls left. For Rajasthan, Kuldeep Sen took 4 wickets followed by Ravichandran Ashwin with 3 and Prasidh Krishna with 2 wickets. This helped Rajasthan win their second match against Bangalore by 29 runs, despite a low-score target.
Rajasthan Royals has won six matches off their eight matches played in IPL 2022 so far. Notably, Rajasthan has won all their six matches while defending the target, which shows their strong bowling side.
