The Tourism Department of the Government of Gujarat is hosting the International Kite Festival beginning January 8. Kite fliers from 65 countries will take part in the Kite Festival, which will be held in four Gujarat cities.
The theme of the Kite Festival has been decided to be the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence and India’s hosting of the G-20. Officials from the tourism department are constantly meeting to plan the International Kite Festival, which will be held in two years. The plan was also finalised during the cabinet meeting.
The Gujarat government plans to hold a Kite Festival for the first time after the Corona period. The Kite Festival will be held in four different cities across the state. Foreign kite fliers will also take part in the International Kite Festival, which will take place in the state until January 14, 2023. The Kite Festival was cancelled earlier in the years 2021 and 2022 due to the Corona pandemic.
Various cultural programmes have also been planned from January 8 to January 14. The Kite Festival will feature performances by well-known Gujarati artists. The kite festival will feature a variety of artists performing Gujarati folk arts. A selfie point will also be established at the Kite Festival. A workshop on how kite production is done in the state will also be held. On the riverfront, various stalls will be set up.
The International Kite Festival will keep the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence and the theme of the G-20 summit. Because the country is hosting the G-20 Summit for the first time, some aspects of the summit will be visible at the Kite Festival. Apart from that, as part of the country’s 75th anniversary of independence, some glimpses of it will be seen in the form of kite flying.
The Kite Festival will be attended by 65 countries from around the world. Kite fliers from other countries are being accommodated. Foreign kite flyers will also take part in the festivities at Ahmedabad and the Statue of Unity, according to tourism officials.
