Surat airport has been approved as an International Airport in the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Surat, a strategic location from the point of view of economic activity in Gujarat with high concentration of textile, chemical and diamond industries, will get further boost after establishment of Diamond Bourse.
The proposal to declare Surat as International Airport was in demand since quite some time now. It will be a gateway for gateway for international travelers and facilitate seamless export-import operations.
Surat, a city in South Gujarat, located nearer to Mumbai than Ahmedabad is an econmic powerhouse in it’s own right. With the declaration of Inernational Airport, the potential of Surat promises to grow leapbound. The move is likely to usher in new area of prosperity in entire region adjoining Surat.
The rapid growth of Surat city will get further impetus with the move. The new international airport will pave way for foreign investment and stronger diplomatic ties.
