India’s Unique Gifts for Ram Temple

As the nation eagerly anticipates the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya today, an array of special and unique gifts have been sent to the temple from all corners of India for its ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony.

1. 108-foot-long incense stick

An incense stick, measuring 108 feet in length, 3.5 feet in width, and weighing 3,610 kg, has been meticulously crafted over a period of six months in Vadodara, Gujarat. The cost of its creation is estimated to be around Rs 5 lakh. Viha Bharwad, the resident of Vadodara who prepared the incense stick, shared with the media that the stick is eco-friendly and is expected to last approximately one and a half months, disseminating its aroma over several kilometers. The ingredients for the stick include 376 kg of guggul (gum resin), 376 kg of coconut shells, 190 kg of ghee, 1,470 kg of cow dung, and 420 kg of herbs. Interestingly, the height of the stick is nearly half that of Delhi’s iconic Qutab Minar, which stands tall at 237 feet.

2. Ram temple-themed necklace

Kaushik Kakadiya, Director of Rasesh Jewels, has reported the media that a Surat-based diamond merchant has fashioned a necklace inspired by the Ram temple. The necklace, intricately crafted from two kg of silver and adorned with 5,000 American diamonds, was the result of the dedicated efforts of 40 artisans over a span of 35 days. This exquisite piece has been generously donated to the Ram temple trust.

3. Laddu weighing 1,265 kg

A Hyderabad man has prepared a laddu weighing 1,265 kg, set to be offered at the Ram temple.

4. Silk bed sheet depicting the Shri Ram temple

A silk manufacturer from Tamil Nadu has crafted a bed sheet featuring the Shri Ram temple, which was subsequently presented to Anil Mishra, the ‘Yajman’ of Shri Ram Temple, by Alok Kumar, the President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. In addition to the bed sheet, Kumar also gifted organically-produced pure saffron sourced from a group in Kashmir and water from the Kubha (Kabul) river in Afghanistan.

5. A 44-foot-long brass flag pole

For the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, Bhupendra Patel, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, initiated the dispatch of a 44-foot-long brass flag pole, weighing 5500 kg, along with six other smaller poles from Ahmedabad.

6. A 56-inch ‘nagaru’ from Gujarat

The All India Dabgar Samaj in Dariyapur has crafted a 56-inch ‘nagaru’ (temple drum) from gold foil, which is set to be positioned in the temple’s courtyard.

7. A lock and key weighing 400 kg

Satya Prakash Sharma, a locksmith hailing from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, has created a lock and key that weighs 400 kg and measures 10 feet in height, 4.6 feet in width, and 9.5 inches in thickness. Claiming it to be the world’s largest lock and key, Sharma has donated it to the trust for symbolic use at the temple.

8 – Bell weighing 2,100 kg

A bell made from ‘ashtadhatu’ (alloy of 8 metals) weighing 2,100 kg, was made in Etah’s Jalesar, Uttar Pradesh. 

9. Clock with time frames of 8 countries

Anil Kumar Sahu, a 52-year-old vegetable vendor from Lucknow, has crafted a unique clock that simultaneously displays the time in eight different countries. The clock, which measures 75 cm in diameter, was gifted to Champ’at Rai, the General Secretary of the temple trust. Sahu first created this clock in 2018 and it has been recognized with a ‘certificate of registration of design’ by the Patent Office, Government of India. The clock is designed to show the time in India, Tokyo (Japan), Moscow (Russia), Dubai (UAE), Beijing (China), Singapore, Mexico City (Mexico), Washington DC, and New York (US).

10. A 7,000 kg ‘Ram Halwa’

Vishnu Manohar, a chef hailing from Nagpur, has declared his plans to prepare ‘Ram Halwa’, a traditional sweet dish, weighing 7,000 kg. This generous offering is intended for the devotees attending the consecration ceremony.

11. 1 lakh laddoos by TTD

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the governing body of the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, has declared its intention to distribute one lakh laddus to devotees on January 22.

12 – Gold-plated footwear

The son of a kar sevak is embarking on a journey on foot from Hyderabad to Ayodhya, spanning nearly 8,000 km, with the intent of offering a pair of gold-plated footwear to Lord Ram.

13. A 1,100 kg lamp

Arvindbhai Mangalbhai Patel, a farmer based in Vadodara, has skillfully created a colossal lamp. The lamp, which weighs 1,100 kg, is made from ‘panchadhatu’, a combination of gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron. Remarkably, it has the capacity to hold up to 851 kg of ghee.
