The Maharashtra Cyber Department has summoned content creator Ranveer Allahbadia to record his statement on February 24 in connection with the ongoing controversy surrounding the “India’s Got Latent” show, officials confirmed on Monday. This follows an earlier summons, which Allahbadia failed to attend, prompting the authorities to issue a second notice for his appearance.
The cyber department, tasked with cyber and information security, is investigating the case filed against Allahbadia and others following his controversial remarks on Samay Raina’s web show “India’s Got Latent“.
His comments on parents and sex sparked widespread outrage, leading to a huge public backlash.
In addition to the investigation by Maharashtra Cyber, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has set a new hearing date for Allahbadia, Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and others involved in the controversy.
This comes after the individuals failed to appear before the NCW on February 17, citing various reasons for their absence.
The NCW said that several of those summoned had cited concerns about personal safety, prior foreign travel commitments, and other logistical challenges as the reasons for their failure to attend the hearing.
The Commission noted that it had considered these factors and agreed to reschedule the hearing, providing the individuals with another opportunity to comply with the summons.
Ranveer Allahbadia, in particular, informed the Commission that he had been receiving death threats and requested a new hearing date three weeks later. The NCW accepted this request, rescheduling the hearing for March 6.
