Kamala No Match For Trump, As Biden Opts Out From Race

US President Joe Biden finally gave in to the increasing chorus against his bid for presidency for a second consecutive time at the age of 81, amid disturbing reports about his health. Biden endorsed Vice President, Indian origin Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s Presidential Nominee while stating that he would focus his energy on the remaining term in office as President. President Biden has been visibly battling with the signs of cognitive disorder.

There have been too many public instances of President Biden’s frail health of President Biden recently, leading to speculation of dementia. More and more party men and women stepped out from supporting Biden who seemed till very recently adamant about running again. The visuals of Dr Jill Biden tending to the President all the time had given enough fodder to his adversary Trump to mock him. The US presidential elections will take place on 5th November. The gaffes of Biden addressing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy as Putin and calling Harris “Vice President Trump” from public platforms became extremely embarrassing to watch.

Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, On the other hand, is getting stronger with each passing day. The recent firing on him at a public rally, which could have been fatal, has brought him already closer to victory. Trump’s immediate response to the attack on his life also has been remarkable. The public and private pressure on Biden started mounting considerably after Trump, 78, outperformed him convincingly in a June 27 televised debate. At this juncture, Trump looks set to return to office after a gap of four years.

If approved as the official nominee of the Democratic party, Kamala Harris, 59, would become the first woman of colour to run for the top post in US history. Earlier, Barak Obama, of Kenyan Descent had been president of the US for two successive terms. It is not yet clear if Kamala’s bid would be unchallenged. There had been rumours about Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton being roped in. Biden’s replacement as the nominee will have less than four months to wage a campaign.

Kamala Harris, a successful jurist would be the first Black, Asian, and India American woman to run for the White House. There has never been a woman president in America. Analysts believe that Kamala Harris needs to work on her popularity among voters. Her public persona has been found unfavourable among the masses. Though criticised as the anti-woman mindset, many have raised doubts about her capabilities of holding high office. Pitted against Trump hurricane at this juncture, the democrats do not stand much chance of winning with Kamala as candidate, unless a more articulate candidate such as Michelle Obama is roped in.
