In the ongoing Under-19 World Cup 2024, India and the United States faced off in a thrilling match on Sunday. The US team, after winning the toss, opted to field first, inviting India to bat.
The Indian team, led by Captain Uday Saharan, has already made its mark in the tournament, having defeated both Bangladesh and Ireland in previous matches. Aiming for a hat-trick of victories, India entered the final group match against the US with high hopes.
The match started with Indian openers Adarsh Singh and Arshin Kulkarni at the crease. Adarsh Singh made a quick start, scoring 14 runs in the first over bowled by Arya Garg of the US team. However, the first blow for India came when Adarsh Singh was caught out by Atindra Subramanian after scoring 25 runs.
Despite the early setback, India managed to score 74 runs for the loss of one wicket in 16 overs, with Arshin and Musheer Khan at the crease.
The US team, filled with players of Indian origin, had previously suffered defeats against Ireland and Bangladesh. Despite the pressure, they were determined to put up a strong fight against the five-time champion Indian team.
The Indian team, the most successful in the history of the Under-19 World Cup, was looking to top the group with a win against the US. The team had won its first title in 2002 under the captaincy of Mohammad Kaif and has since been victorious in 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022.
