India is now the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world, with 90,000 businesses and 107 unicorn companies valued at $30 billion, said Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur. He added that the nation is currently the largest exporter of vaccinations, cell phones, and military hardware.
The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs, and Sports was speaking at the 36th Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival (Antarnaad)’s ceremony on Saturday at Jammu University under the auspices of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The week-long festival drew more than 1,000 participants from 18 colleges around the nation. Thakur said, “India is now the hub of the startup ecosystem in the world, ranking third with 90,000 startups and 107 unicorn companies worth 30 billion dollars (one billion = 100 crore) which has been possible only by the contribution of India’s youth.”
He claimed that in order to achieve sustainable growth, sustainable investment is necessary for the emergence of a green economy that produces green jobs.
Accordingly, he stated, “With an investment of Rs 8 lakh crore, India is heading toward becoming the worldwide hub for green hydrogen production, producing five million metric tonnes, or 10% of the world, in the next five years, which will create thousands of green jobs for the youth of our country.
