India defeated Australia by 96 runs in the semi-finals of the ICC U-19 World Cup at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Wednesday, to reach the finals of the tournament for the record-extending eighth time. The Indian side won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a target of 291 on the scoreboard, including a 110-runs knock from the skipper Yash Dhull, for Australia.
Chasing the target, the Australian team was sent back to the pavilion in 41.5 overs by fine bowling performance from the Indian side, including a three-wicket haul from Vicky Ostwal. Nishant Sindhu, Ravi Kumar took two wickets each and Kaushal Tambe, Angkrish Raghuvanshi took one wicket each. However, Lachlan Shaw’s half-century helped the Aussies to mark 194 runs on the scoreboard.
The Indian team will now face England for the final knock in the tournament. The final of the ICC U19 World Cup 2022 will take place on Saturday, February 5 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.
