Jakhau Case: Six Pakistani Boatmen Who Carried Drugs Worth Rs.400 Crores Given 11 Days Remand

Six drug smugglers from Pakistan with drugs worth Rs 400 crore, nabbed in a joint operation by Gujarat ATS and Indian Coast Guard recently off the Jakhau coast in Kutch were produced before special NDPS court in Bhuj today. The court granted 11-day remand to the accused.

77 packets of heroin worth Rs 384 crore were seized from a Pakistani boat by name of ‘Al Huseni’ was intercepted in the Indian waters near Jakhau maritime border in Kutch. All six accused were produced in Bhuj’s NDPS court today.

Special Public Prosecutor Kalpesh Goswami appeared for the government and sought a 14-day police remand for the accused. The court has granted 11-day remand to the accused. During the remand period, the authorities will tray to unearth the information such as who sent the drugs, who was to receive it, who provided the financial support etc. The six boatmen are mere pawns in the game who were given Rs.50000 each for transporting the merchandise to India so it becomes necessary to expose the kingpin as drugs worth crores has been seized from Kutch coast in recent times.
