In the latest tickets sale for the World Cup ODI, tickets were sold out in just 1 hour and 15 minutes– between 8 pm and 9:15 pm on Friday.
For reference, the last India versus Pakistan match saw tickets move out in about three hours.
The final of the World Cup is to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19. However, due to the global high demand for the ticket, fans continued to find themselves waiting in the queue once again.
Earlier on Thursday, the sale of tickets for the final went live for MasterCard users. Eager fans remained in the queue for about 2.5 hours only to see a sold out message on their screens at the end. The sale of tickets went live at 6 pm on Thursday for the finals of the ICC World Cup 2023.
Angry fans took to social media and lambasted the ticketing system. They complained there was no prior public announcement regarding the sale of tickets. Only those registered with the International Cricket Council (ICC) received an email.
A disappointed cricket fan said, “The authorities made no prior public announcement which is not fair to the fans … This is the third time I have tried to book a seat for a World Cup game without success.”
