IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In 18 Districts of Gujarat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised an alarm with a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas across various districts in Gujarat. As of today, approximately 18 districts are under an orange alert, while several others have been placed on yellow warning due to the imminent heavy downpours. Over the next 48 hours, significant rainfall is anticipated in many regions.

However, starting from July 11th, South Gujarat is expected to bear the brunt of the monsoon, experiencing intense rainfall, while the rest of the state will receive lighter to moderate showers.

  1. July 9th Forecast:
    • Heavy to very heavy rains are highly likely in the following districts:
      • Banaskantha
      • Sabarkantha
      • Anand
      • Vadodara
      • Chhota Udepur
      • Narmada
      • Bharuch
      • Surat
      • Dang
      • Tapi
      • Navsari
      • Valsad
      • Daman
      • Dadra Nagar Haveli
    • The Saurashtra region, including Surendranagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Botad, may also witness heavy rains.
  2. Additional Areas Affected:
    • Isolated places in Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Morbi, Dwarka, Kutch, and Diu are expected to receive substantial rainfall.
  3. July 10th Outlook:
    • Heavy rains are likely in the districts of Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
    • Saurashtra’s Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu will also experience heavy rainfall.
  4. Beyond July 11th:
    • South Gujarat, particularly Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli, should prepare for continuous heavy rains.
    • This pattern is expected to persist through July 12th and 13th, with Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli likely to be affected.
