IMD Issues Red Alert for Several Districts In Gujarat

Heavy rains have been battering parts of Gujarat over the past few days and are expected to continue for the next five days, according to the latest forecast from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has issued a red alert for several districts in the state for the next 48 hours.

Chhota Udaipur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli are under a red alert, with the possibility of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.

An orange alert has been issued for Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Dang, Tapi, Surendranagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar and Botad during the same period.

On July 16th, the red alert will extend to Chhota Udaipur, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath and Diu. Meanwhile, Vadodara, Narmada, Bharuch, Dang, Tapi, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Dwarka and Botad will remain under an orange alert.

For July 17th, no red alert is currently in place, but an orange alert has been issued for Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath and Diu, indicating the possibility of very heavy rainfall.

On July 18th, the intensity of the rains is expected to decrease, with a yellow warning issued for Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath and Diu.

Similarly, on July 19th, heavy rains are likely to continue in Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Dwarka, Gir Somnath and Diu.
