The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), in collaboration with Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE), is preparing a series of activities under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav (AKAM) to commemorate 75 years of independence from June 6 to June 12. One of the key events is an exhibition themed ‘Nation Building and CPSEs’, which will be held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. The exhibition will highlight the contributions of CPSEs to a self-reliant nation.
The Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman and the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, today, inaugurated the exhibition, which will be open to public from June 10 to June 12.
While addressing a press conference, Sanjay Kumar Jain, Joint Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises said, “The most important in this iconic week is the exhibition on Nation Building and CPSEs, which will be open to public from June 10 to 12. The participating CPSEs will put stalls and showcase their products and services that have contributed significantly to the development of the country. A number of cultural programmes and quiz competitions have also been organized for the visitors during the event. More than 30 CPDE CMDs are expected to attend the event on June 9.”
Jain further stated, “A series of workshops on topics such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), yearly assessment method of CPSEs, procurement from micro and small enterprises (MSEs), discussions on the government e-marketplace (GeM), and so on are being arranged, with a specific emphasis on aspiring districts. The workshop’s idea is to bring all stakeholders together on one platform to discuss experiences and future action plans.”
Amitabh Banerjee, Chairman of the AKAM Committee and Managing Director of the Indian Railway Finance Corporation, who was present at the press conference, urged everyone to take part in the “Jan Utsav,” or 75th anniversary celebrations of independence, by taking part in various demonstrations and events at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
“During AKAM iconic week, CPSEs would conduct a Pan-India ‘Plantation Drive,’ in which 75,000 saplings will be planted at their offices, townships, industrial sites, and so on. Furthermore, CPSE activities connected to developing their township into a mini-smart city for eco-friendly housing and effective water management will be launched. During the week, a short film about the CPSE’s role to nation building will be published in 12 languages,” Banerjee said.
