India U19 team on Saturday handed the past defending champions – Bangladesh their defeat in the quarter-finals of the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup 2022, paving their way to the semi-finals for the fourth straight time. The Indian side registered a five-wicket win over Bangladesh at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
Winning the toss, the Indian team chose to field and sent back the Bangladeshi side to the pavilion in 37.1 overs with 111 runs on the scoreboard. The second innings initiated with an early wicket of Harnoor Singh for India, however, the partnership of Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44) and Shaik Rasheed (26) contributed over 50 runs for the second wicket and the Indian squad was back in the game.
Losing a total of five wickets, the skipper Yash Dhull and Kaushal Tambe batted till the 112-runs target was registered on the scoreboard with the latter’s spectacular six as a match concluding shot.
The U19 men in blue will face Australia in the semi-finals of the ICC U19 World Cup 2022 on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua. The final of the league is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.
