In light of the ongoing confrontation with China, the Indian Air Force told officials that Exercise Pralay would involve all of its key air facilities in the northeast, including the recently relocated drone units.
The upcoming exercise will also coincide with the Indian Air Force’s deployment and activation of the S-400 air defence squadron in the region, which has the ability to engage any hostile aircraft or missile from up to 400 kilometres away.
According to officials, the drill would involve the activation of numerous Air Force combat assets, including the fighter jets Su-30 and Rafale, as well as transport and other aircraft.
In order to improve its ability to track enemy activity along the Sikkim and the Siliguri Corridor area, the IAF has relocated a squadron of drones from other locations to the northeast. The officials stated that the Chinese have also been stepping up their efforts in the Doklam region and are constantly being monitored by Indian security agencies. This is the second command-level exercise of its kind that the IAF has conducted recently.
The entire northeast airspace along the China border is under the control of the Indian Air Force’s Eastern Command in Shillong, which frequently sends its fighters into action whenever the Chinese attempt to fly too close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) or move in a direction toward Indian locations there.
