Gujarat state finance and education minister Kanubhai Desai has confirmed the Government plans for bringing new green hydrogen policy. It is expected that Gujarat government will come up with the policy promoting green hydrogen generation ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat summit to be held in January 2022 at Gandhinagar.
The policy will contain incentives for the sunrise sector (sectors which are new, growing fast and expected to become important in the future sector) like hydrogen fuel production in the form of financial subsidy or viability gap funding. The minister articulated that ” globally green hydrogen energy generation is being seen as the answer to climate change mitigation”. Financial incentives shall cover the area of research and development and human Resorces too.
Several big companies like Reliance Industries Ltd, Adani group, L&T, NTPC, Gail and IOC are believed to be keenly interested in the sector.
